SARA AJANOVIC, MD

MEDICAL OFFICER

As medical officer of the Newborn Solutions’ team, Sara coordinates the multisite study of Neosonics in Spain as well as the UNITED-Meningitis study in Maputo, Mozambique.
Sara is a paediatrician, trained at Barcelona’s Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, and a Global Health Researcher at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal).
At the Barcelona Institute for Global Health, she is a PhD candidate and her research focuses on infectious diseases affecting the central nervous system in low and middle income countries.
She takes part in several activities in collaboration with the Centro de Investigaçao em Saúde da Manhiça (CISM) in Mozambique as a paediatric infectiology specialist, such as the coordination and patient recruitment of observational study FIEBRE (Febrile Illness Evaluation in a Broad Range of Endemicities) in Mozambique, lead by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Sara also manages the clinical coordination of surveillance study CHAMPS (Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance), lead by the Emory Global Health Institute, a program supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
